Business Licences Now Issued Via Email

The Department of Commerce and Investment (DCI) is issuing business licences electronically, in order to further improve the licensing process.

‘With DCI falling under my Ministry’s remit, I’m pleased to see further electronic support being introduced into the business licensing process’, Minister for Commerce Wayne Panton said.

‘This step is part of a series of improvements that DCI has introduced since the commencement of the new Trade and Business Licensing Law at the beginning of this year, and they are to be commended for this initiative’, he said.

DCI began emailing both new and renewal licences on Friday, 1 July. They will be sent out within 30 days after applicants submit their documentation. Upon receipt, licence holders can print their certificates and display them at their business premises.

For persons who do not have an email address, they will need to collect their certificates at the Business Licensing Counter, located on the first floor of the Government Administration Building, Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 4pm. Applying for a licence still needs to be done in person at the licensing counter, for the time being.

‘DCI is constantly seeking ways to improve our service, especially as it relates to expediting the licensing process’, DCI Director Ryan Rajkumarsingh said. ‘There are more changes in store, which will benefit our clients, so keep an eye out for further announcements’.
