THREE TYPES OF MEMBERS

Membership Types

Cayman Finance has three classes of members, each with differing  voting rights, benefits and  payment obligations. The three designations are: Ordinary, Associate  and Honourary

An individual may only be an Ordinary Member or an Associate Member if that individual operates as a firm or entity, such a sole trader, and otherwise qualifies according to conditions in Cayman Finance’s Amended and Restated Memorandum of Association. An individual may not be an Honorary Member.

Ordinary Members

Professional associations that are located in the Islands and that represent professionals or organisations that are also located in the Islands; or are licensed by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority that are also located in the Islands.

Aon

Associate Members

The CFA Society Cayman Islands is an association of Cayman Islands investment professionals. The CFA Society works to further the public’s understanding of the CFA designation and investment industry.

CGI

The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland is the qualifying and membership body for governance with over 130 years’ experience of educating and supporting governance professionals. The CGI assures world class standards of governance by setting the international qualifying standard as the only chartered professional body dedicated to supporting governance professionals.

CIBA

The Cayman Islands Bankers’ Association (CIBA) was formed in 1979 and is one of the islands’ oldest associations. Our membership comprises the majority of registered and regulated Cayman Islands banks and trust companies and is open to all relevant licensed institutions.

CICA

The Cayman Islands Compliance Association seeks to raise the level of compliance in the financial services industry and provides members with the information to assist with the implementation and maintenance of effective compliance and anti-money laundering programmes; and provides a forum for discussion of new legislation or required best practice relevant to the Cayman Islands financial services industry.

The Cayman Islands Directors Association is a self regulating association of Cayman Islands resident directors. Each member is an employee of a Cayman Islands financial services company licensed and regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority or is an individual whose membership has been sponsored by at least two such members.

CIFAA

Our members are fund administrators based in the Cayman Islands. We promote the expertise of our members both locally and internationally. We work on behalf of our members by liaising with all fund industry stakeholders both at home and abroad to enable our clients to secure the best service possible.

CIIA

The Cayman Islands Insurance Association brings together the various associations representing the insurance industry in the Cayman Islands. The intention is to create a single body that can respond to and advise the public on insurance issues and to have a single voice in discussions with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, who regulate the insurance industry.

CIIPA

The Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) serves to protect the public interest through regulation, education, and engagement. As a non-profit, self-regulatory body, CIIPA promotes the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct. CIIPA is responsible for registering public practice and accounting firms, providing quality assurance and AML/CFT oversight.

Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association

The Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association (CILPA) is the industry body and supervisory authority for Cayman Islands attorneys-at-law. CILPA’s Constitution sets out its membership, election processes and meeting procedures. CILPA is governed and managed by an elected Council comprising the President, one Treasurer, one Secretary and four other Council members.

IMAC

The Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (aka Cayman International Insurance) represents insurance managers, captive insurance companies and service providers, acting as a vital link between the industry, government and regulator in the Cayman Islands and works to maintain Cayman’s pre-eminence in the international insurance industry.
